LED downlights are designed or installed to throw light directly downwards, illuminating whatever is below. Indoor LED downlights can be used in any room, but kitchen, bathroom and bedroom ceiling downlights are most popular.
What are LED downlights?
LED downlights consist of an LED bulb set in a steel or aluminium cylinder with a decorative bezel. They’re held into the ceiling with spring clips or compression clips, and are often finished in chrome or brushed steel, or painted.
Where can I use LED downlights?
You can use LED downlights inside or outside your property. When it comes to indoor downlights, the most popular are kitchen downlights, bathroom downlights and bedroom downlights.
Do LED downlights last longer?
LED downlights typically have a much longer lifespan because they’re designed to dissipate heat effectively. Since they run at a cooler temperature they’re less likely to overheat, extending the life of the bulb.
Can I replace the bulb?
Some of our LED downlights have replaceable bulbs, such as the KSRFRD400. However, most LED bulbs are fixed into the unit, meaning you can’t replace them. When the bulb goes, you have to replace the entire unit. But since LED downlights have a much longer life expectancy, the difference in cost is often negligible.
Recessed vs surface mounted downlights
Recessed downlights are fitted into the ceiling, with only the bezel and bulb on display. Surface mounted downlights are fitted on top of a ceiling or wall, with some of the side showing as well as the bezel and bulb.
Where can I find product specifications?
Each of our product pages has a Specifications section to give you more information. This includes details such as the product’s wattage, colour temperature, lumens, energy rating, material and dimensions.
Do these products come with a warranty?
Yes, they do. The warranty on our LED downlights is typically around 3-5 years.
