Is it safe to install garden lighting myself?
Since most garden lights are low voltage, it’s usually safe to install them yourself. However, you still need to know how to wire garden lighting properly so that they function as intended. If you’re not familiar with electrical installations, we recommend hiring a professional.
Do I need a transformer?
Household main electricity is generally 230 volts. But most garden lighting requires just 12 volts. That means you’ll need a transformer to supply the correct amount of power.
We recommend choosing a transformer with higher capacity than you actually need. That way, you can add more garden lights in the future. For example, if your total wattage is 50 watts, get a 100 watt transformer.
How should a garden wall light be placed?
You should install a garden wall light or recessed wall light approximately 5-5.5 feet above floor level. This puts the top of the light at around eye level. If you’re installing a series of garden wall lights, they should be spaced around 8-10 feet apart.
Should I use an LED garden light?
An LED garden light will have a lifespan around 5 times longer than a traditional bulb. These lights are also more energy efficient, helping you save on your energy bills.
